Spanish teaching levels
In Paraninfo Spanish Academy the course levels correspond to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) whose aim is to provide a common base for the drawing up of languages programs, curriculum guidance, exams, manuals and materials for European teaching.
- A Basic users
- B Independent users
- C Competent users
A1 Access |
- The capability to understand and use common everyday expressions such as simple phrases to handle spur of the moment situations.
- To be able to ask for and give basic personal information about the students home, belongings and people he or she knows.
- To have an elementary conversation with someone speaking slowly and clearly and is willing to cooperate.

A2 Platform |
- Have the capability to understand frequently used phrases and expressions in relevant fields (basic personal information, information about his or her family, shopping, places of interest, jobs etc.)
- Knowing how to communicate when doing basic everyday tasks that require basic conversational exchanges.
- Can describe, using basic terms, things about his or her surroundings in relation to immediate necessities.

B1 Threshold |
- The capability to clearly understand the most important parts of a text in standard language about familiar matters whether to do with work, study or free time.
- To manage the majority of situations that could come up while on a trip to an area where the language is used.
- To be able to produce simple and coherent texts about familiar matters or of personal interest.
- Can describe experiences, events, wishes and aspirations and so briefly justify his or her opinions and explain plans.

B2 Advanced |
- To have the ability to understand the main ideas of complex texts about abstract themes as well as the technical nature that are in the students field of specialization.
- To be able to speak with a sufficient degree of fluency to native speakers and to do it in a natural way as not to require effort from either party.
- Produce clear and detailed texts relating to diverse themes such as defending a point of view on general topics and giving the pros and cons of different opinions.

C1 Efficient speaker
|
- To be able to understand a wide variety of high level extensive texts and be able to identify implicit meanings.
- The ability to express himself/herself in a fluent and spontaneous way without showing evident effort in finding the correct expression.
- To use the language in a flexible and effective way in social, academic and professional situations.
- To produce clear, well structured and detailed texts about complex themes showing the correct use of organizational mechanisms, articulation and cohesion.

C2 Master |
- Understanding with ease practically all that is heard and read.
- Knowing how to reconstruct information and arguments from different sources, whether it be spoken or written, and presenting it in a cohesive and summed up way.
- To spontaneously express himself / herself, with a high level of fluency and a degree of precision which allows students to differentiate between nuances in meaning as well as in very complex situations.
